Project Description
Convert an existing heavy timber, Amish Built barn into a rustic wedding venue to service the Charlotte and Rock Hill area.
Scope of Work
New dormers cut into the front elevation of the existing roof.
Bolstering the existing floor for the new occupancy loading of 100 lbs per square foot.
Reworking the existing bottom floor column placement for better flow and utilization of the space.
Seismic retrofitting of the structure.
Key Challenges
Utilizing the existing framework and site-built roof trusses.
Balancing structural member sizes with column placements and head clearance and lines of vision.
Existing timber is ungraded.
Seismic retrofitting utilizing the heavy timber construction.
